Douch Family Funeral Directors’ Nick Douch appointed as President of BAFD

Douch Family Funeral Directors' Nick Douch appointed as President of BAFD

Nick Douch, Managing Director of Douch Family Funeral Directors, has been appointed as the President of the Bournemouth and District Association of Funeral Directors (BAFD), taking over from Stuart Major of Miller Brothers in Christchurch.

This local branch of the National Association of Funeral Directors has been in existence since the 1890s and covers a wide area, including Bournemouth, Poole, East Dorset, the Isle of Purbeck and into north Dorset.

Founded in 1910, Douch Family Funeral Directors is a long established funeral director, with several branches in the region, including Wimborne, Ferndown, Parkstone, Corfe Mullen, Wareham, Swanage and Blandford.

Nick is the first member of the Douch family to head the BAFD, and his father Peter was among the 11 members of the company who attended the ceremony to install him with the chain of office.

Nick expressed his honour at being chosen to lead this historic organisation, which has been supporting funeral directors in the area for over 120 years.

He emphasised the importance of communication between all parties who support the bereaved, especially in the aftermath of Covid. As a sensitive industry, communication can help to ensure a better experience for everyone involved. Nick also encourages more funeral directors to become active with the Association, to strengthen the voice of the industry.

The National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), which BAFD is a part of, has a strict code of conduct, and Nick advises those seeking funeral directors to check for membership. He will serve a minimum of two years as President, and Leanne Adimi from the company’s Ferndown branch, AE Jolliffe and Son, was made Vice President at the installation ceremony.

Overall, with Nick Douch as its new President, the BAFD is set to continue its long-standing legacy of supporting the funeral industry in the Bournemouth and District area, with a renewed focus on communication and collaboration.
